Rant #2

Okay, Rant #1 was slightly silly.

This one will be more serious.  Probably too serious for me, even.

So pour yourself a mug of… something, and prepare to read.  And please understand, you’ve been warned.

This past week, Iran was voted to be 1 of 15 nations to direct the next global arms treaty.

Yeah, you heard me correctly.  Iran, the nation that is currently enriching uranium, the nation whose defected general states that “IAEA inspectors are fooling themselves if they believe the enrichment is for peaceful purposes.”  The very same nation that is working around the sanctions to continue selling oil and do business with other countries.  The very same nation that is supporting Syria’s regime as it obliterates its own people.

Is the UN completely crazy!?  What could possibly be the purpose of bringing Iran into such a position, on this particular committee?

None of this makes any sense.  The only statement that makes any sense is: the UN isn’t making any sense.

But the thing that riles me the most, and makes me want to stand up and SCREAM, is the fact that none of the major news networks in this country said diddly squat about this entire thing!

Where was CNN?  Where was MSNBC?  Where was USA Today when this vote was taken, and Iran was awarded this position?  For that matter, WHERE WAS OUR PRESIDENT?  Did he SAY anything?  Did he even know it had happened?  I have to believe he did.  So why didn’t he SAY anything?

There is NO comment anywhere, coming from the White House.  I’ve checked more than once.  That is disgusting.

There is no report on the major news sources, anywhere, on this topic.  I’ve checked more than once.  I’ll go back and check again, but I don’t think I’ll find anything.  If I do, it will more than likely be tucked away somewhere, treated as “non news.”

Just checked CNN, MSNBC, and NPR, one more time.  Nothing.

Can you believe this?  Something as important as this, and none of our major news systems wants to report it.

So what do you think?  Think the news media doesn’t want to report news anymore?  And how do we handle this?

I would LOVE to hear your comments.  In the meantime, I’m going hunting for some foreign news sites that are interested in keeping up with the pulse of the world.
